Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate. It is formed over millions of years from the accumulation of shells, coral, and other marine organisms. Limestone is often used as a building material and in the production of cement. It can also be found in various applications such as flooring, countertops, and sculptures.
